Fabric Galore!!

Just found out that Camelot Fabrics have launched the line called Mamma and Me that I created for them, so excited.

In the interim

So since the 7th of January, I have been busy trying to get to grips with watercolour and really enjoying the whole process. Each piece brings new challenges, as I am never that sure of how I am going to tackle the artwork, but I seem to find a way....

This was the start of my final project in watercolour for MATS Home Decor week 1

Back to school!

Oh! Last post was 7th of January, didn't think that it was so long ago!

So I am back at school again, learning new things and loving the experience.

This time I am attending Home Decor and I have just completed the first week with an amazing group of super talented artists who have produced amazing final artwork. By the sounds of the posts from everyone, the majority has found this week a great challenge, and I am no exception. I started the final project in Illustrator and then we had a really long power cut, which meant no electricity. Long and short of it was that I needed to produce something so I had to do the artwork in watercolour. I am relatively new to this medium, having only started to learn it a few weeks ago, but the fact that I had to start creating made me forget my doubts about inability and just get on with it and I am glad I did as I learnt so much.
Power back on, on Saturday and I was able to clean all the artwork up in Photoshop, which again in unfamiliar ground, but I am seriously loving the challenges that this all brings and thankful that I decided to take the MATS Home Decor class. Here is my finished entry for week 1 below.

And here we are ....

It's the start of a new year and I am really looking forward to the months ahead of creating artwork.

Over the holiday period I've been busy experimenting....

Got myself some modern lino panels and a cutting kit and did my first lino cut since I was 12......

And then it took me 3 attempts to print something that I was happy with......

I love all the little gritty bits, I used black acrylic as it was all I had, really need to go and get some proper printing inks.

Then I treated myself to a Learn how to paint flowers in watercolour, by artist Julie King and I did my first exercise below......

Have to say, can't believe I left it so long to really get into watercolour, I was afraid of it as a medium and now that I've started, I love it, and don't really know what I was scared of!

And then I did another exercise, this one took the whole day, but I really enjoyed it so much.

Then I wanted to do one that wasn't someone's exercise so I started to draw out my own design.....

There is a strong folklore trend so I am developing that idea....

And the finished piece, so enjoyed doing this.....

All artwork is ©andrea turk

And with that I did a mixed media piece......

But weirdly enough I didn't like it, so I did a zen tangle one, which I much prefer.....

Hope that it is a prosperous year for us all!!!
